Built originally by the Romans, the structure was fortified even further during the Ottoman rule. Many additions were made, including the open-air amphitheatre which in itself is a great testimony to the cultural traditions of the city. The fort still hosts many functions and outdoor Banja Luka concerts. Its grounds and the park inside serve as wonderful retreats from the city’s bustle. The view of the Vrbas River and its grassy banks from atop the fort is well worth the climb up.
